Cheerdance competition set Monday-A A +A

HORDES of people are expected to flock to the Mayor Vitaliano Agan Coliseum Monday afternoon for the Inter-School Open Cheerdance Competition in line with the 77th Dia de Zamboanga celebration on Wednesday.
A total of seven schools -- four secondary and three colleges -- will see action in the competition. These are the Talon-Talon National High School, Culianan National High School, Zamboanga City High School (ZCHS)-main and the Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial High School and the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU), Southern City Colleges and Universidad de Zamboanga (UZ).
Cash prizes await the winners and these are the following: first prize, P15,000; second prize, P10,000; and third prize, P7,500. The non-winners will receive P5,000.
Each participating group shall provide its name and shall be composed of 25-35 members with an additional of 5-10 props men, according to the City Hall Information Office.
Teams that do not conform to the specified number of members shall be disqualified from winning the top three prizes.
Teams shall be given a minimum of five minutes and maximum of seven minutes to perform their dance, inclusive of their entrance and exit routines.
A penalty of point-deduction from the final score shall be imposed for teams with over or under time performances, to wit: five points for the first 30 seconds, five points for the next 30 seconds and five points for every minute thereafter.
The winners will be determined according to the following criteria: over-all evaluation (choreography, synchronization, perfection) – 40 percent, techniques (expression, dance, arm motion, jumps, tumbling) – 30 percent, and difficulty (over-all difficulty, speed, transition) – 30 percent.
