AN ALLEGED drug pusher was killed while two policemen were wounded in a shootout in Isabela City, Basilan province, a police official said Wednesday.

Isabela City Police Director Albert Larubis said the shootout broke out around 7 p.m. Tuesday at Zone 2 in the village of Kaumpurnah.

He said the shootout ensued when combined policemen and soldiers raided the residence of Alkhan Jailani and Toy Jailani, whose residence has been tagged as drug den.

Larubis said the raid was carried out on the strength of a search warrant issued by a Court in Isabela City.

He said the shootout resulted in the death of Alkhan while the latter's companion, Toy, was not around during the raid.

Larubis identified the wounded policemen as Police Officer 2 Julius Nabal-o and PO2 Moises Dominguez. They were hospitalized.

The raiding team confiscated from the suspects' residence one M-16 Armalite rifle, two hand grenades, two rifle grenades, assorted short firearms and accessories, sachets of suspected shabu and other prohibited drug paraphernalia, Larubis said.

Appropriate charges are set to be filed against the Toy Jailani, who is at large. (Bong Garcia)
