Pakistani killed, driver wounded

A PAKISTANI national was killed while his Filipino driver was wounded in a hold-up incident in the hinterlands of Basilan province, the police reported Wednesday.

The police said the incident took place shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday along the highway in the boundary of Parangbasak and Sabong villages in Lamitan City.

The fatality was identified as Rehman Kan, a Pakistani national, who was a resident of Lamitan proper. Kan had been engaged in money lending business.


His driver, Albert Palconit, was admitted at the hospital for treatment.

Initial investigation showed that the victims were aboard a vehicle when waylaid by gunmen who staged the heist.
