THE police have arrested three people, including an education official in an anti-drug operation in an east coast village of Zamboanga City, an official announced Sunday.

Zamboanga City police director Senior Superintendent Angelito Casimiro identified the arrested suspects as Mario Angelo Cristobal, Maybert Saavedra and Alfredo Ramos, the school principal of the Latuan Elementary School.

Casimiro said the suspects were arrested around 11:45 p.m. Saturday at Ontong Drive in the village of Quiniput, 44.70 kilometers east of this city.

Casimiro said the operatives of the City Anti-Drug Special Operations Task Force (CAIDSOTF) and from the Police Station 2 arrested the suspects after they sold a sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover policeman.

Casimiro added that the buy-bust operation was carried out following surveillance on the illicit activity of the suspects.

The arresting team confiscated from the suspects’ possessions eight sachets of suspected shabu, prohibited drug paraphernalia, marked money and a motorcycle, Casimiro said.

The suspects were detained at the headquarters of the Police Station 2 in the village of Curuan while appropriate charges are set to be filed against them, he added.
