Saudi hires 1,600 medical professionals

THE Philippines Overseas employment Administration (POEA) has announced that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) is hiring 1,600 Filipino medical professionals.

POEA-Zamboanga Peninsula officer-in-charge Marrieta Bellotindos said officials of KSA's Ministry of Health are arriving in Zamboanga City to screen applicants starting Tuesday until Thursday.

Part of the screening process is a written examination and interview of applicants.


Among the medical professionals to be hired by the Ministry of Health of KAS are 1,000 staff nurses, 500 respiratory therapists, and 100 x-ray specialists, said Bellotindos.

She said that so far, a total of 718 Filipino medical professionals have submitted their applications. They include 646 nurses, 47 x-ray specialists, 19 respiratory therapists, and six pharmacists.

Bellotindos said medical professionals who are interested to apply may still register with the POEA until Monday, August 25.

She said her office will be open to receive application papers although Monday is a non-working holiday.

She said walk-in applicants will be entertained on Thursday, August 28.

She said the applicants can also register online at but they have to submit their requirements at POEA on or before Monday.

Bellotindos also advised the applicants to bring with them valid identification cards during the screening days. (Bong Garcia)
