A MILITIAMAN was killed in an ambush in a remote village of Zamboanga Sibugay province, the police reported Monday.

Police Regional Office (PRO-9) Information Officer-in-Charge Inspector Dahlan Samuddin said the incident took place around 1 p.m. Sunday at Purok Gemelina in the village of Tenan, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Samuddin identified the victim as Roberto Fabuesa, 31, a militiaman in the village of Lapaz, Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Investigation showed the victim was driving his motorcycle coming from Naga en route to Ipil when unidentified gunmen ambushed him upon reaching the village of Tenan, Samuddin said.

He said the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died on the spot. Several empty shells of M-16 Armalite rifle and a .45 caliber pistol were recovered at the crime scene.

Investigation continues in a bid to unmask the suspects, he added.
