THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) is scheduled to hold a dialogue with the courier firms to stop the entry of prohibited drugs into the region.

PDEA Regional Director Joseph Latip had thought of holding the dialogue following observations that prohibited drug syndicates ship the contrabands through courier firms.

Zamboanga International Airport authorities in the past months have intercepted on separate occasions shipment of shabu shipped through courier firms.

The biggest confiscation of shipment was 19 kilos of shabu with an estimated market value of P180 million on November 9, 2013.

Latip said there is a need to remind the personnel of courier firms that they should be meticulous in accepting package for shipment.

He said, once the dialogue will push through, they would also discuss about the new methods or techniques of the syndicates in concealing the prohibited drugs.
