THE Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) said the residents of Zamboanga City still enjoy good air quality.

DENR’s Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Pollution Control Division chief Engineer Josefino Belocura said the Particulate Matter (PM) for good air quality ranges from 0-80 micrograms per normal cubic meters.

Regional Director Jacqueline Caancan said the ambient air analysis in the city yielded PM 10 micrograms per normal cubic meters.

The EMB regularly monitors the air quality in the city through an ambient air analysis every six days of the week, said Caancan.

She said three PM monitoring stations were installed in the following areas in the city: Baliwasan village; Sitio Lantawan in the village of Pasonanca; and, along Evangelista Street in the village of Sta. Catalina.

Caancan said the main cause of the pollution here is dust emission from construction works.
