Officials advised to organize fire volunteer brigades

A TOP official of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has advised the village officials in Zamboanga City to organize their respective fire volunteer brigades.

Zamboanga City Fire District (ZCFD) Fire Marshal Dominador Zabala Jr. said it is important to have fire volunteer brigades especially for far-flung villages since they will serve as the first responders whenever fire incidents happen.

Zabala said the member of the fire volunteer brigades can already undertake firefight efforts while the firefighters are still on the way to the fire scene.


Zabala said that so far seven of Zamboanga City’s 98 villages have already organized their respective fire volunteer brigades.

These are the village of Baliwasan, Canelar, Cawit, Manicahan, Sta. Maria, Sto. Niño, and Tetuan.

Zabala said village officials to coordinate with his office to train fire volunteers on basic firefighting once they organized fire volunteer brigade.
