THE distribution of standard plates to vehicle owners in Zamboanga City will start in August, said a top official of the Land Transportation Office.

LTO Regional Director Aminola Abaton said 5,000 to 10,000 standard vehicle plates will be distributed.

The new standard vehicle plates are for four-wheel vehicles and motorcycles. The first to receive are the owners of new vehicles.

He said the new plate was patterned after the standards adopted by the European transport authority.

It has barcode, security features, and it is tamper-proof, which means it could not be removed once installed.

Also indicated in the new standard plate is the place where the vehicle was registered, Abaton said.
