A MANHUNT is on while appropriate charges are set to be filed against a militiaman and an unidentified cohort responsible in the killing of one person in Isabela City, Basilan province.

Isabela City police commander Superintendent Albert Larubis identified one of the two suspects as Saer Abdurahman, a militiaman assigned at the detachment of Lukbuton village of the said city.

Larubis said the identity of the other suspect is still unknown. It was not clear also if the other suspect is also a militiaman like Abdurahman.

Larubis said Abdurahman and his cohort were tagged in the killing of Paskalani Albasi around 8 a.m. Saturday in the shore of Lukbuton village.

A companion of Albasi, who was identified only as a certain Ubok, survived although stabbed and wounded, said Larubis.

He said both victims are residents of Zone 3 in the village of Kaumpurnah, Isabela City.

Policemen and Special Forces soldiers went to the residence of Abdurahman but the suspect was already gone, thus the manhunt operation.

The Special Force soldiers handle the deployment of militia forces in Basilan province.
