8 injured in Bolong highway collision-A A +A

EIGHT people were injured when the vehicle they were riding fell into a ravine after colliding with a motorcycle in Bolong village, Zamboanga City, the police reported Friday.
Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) spokesman Ariel Huesca said the accident happened around 5 p.m. Thursday in Sitio Mala in the village of Bolong.
Huesca identified the injured passengers as Gemma Anastacio, 16; Dayang Dani, 19; Lily Dani, 15; Mina Dani, 13; Nurbenhar Alih, 20; and, Hadzhar Tanjilil, 14, all are residents of Lubigan village.
The other two victims were Joselito Francisco, 45, and Jaylin Francisco, 19, the driver and back rider of the motorcycle, respectively. Both are from Quinipu village.
Police investigation showed the vehicle driven by Jun Sabbaani fell into the ravine after it sideswiped the motorcycle while cruising on a blind curve portion of the highway.
Sabbaani was travelling at that time to the village of Lubigan coming from Barangay Sangali and was carrying nine passengers.
Sabbaani went into hiding after the incident.
The police said all of the victims were taken to the Cristino Paragas Memorial Hospital in the village of Quiniput for medical treatment.
Huesca said the owner of the vehicle, Salip Salapuddin, 56, promised to extend assistance for the medication of the victims.
Salapuddin, 56, was among the passengers of the pick-up vehicle but was not injured during the incident, Huesca said. (Bong Garcia)
