THE International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has provided a boost in terms of mobility to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) in Zamboanga City.
PRC-Zamboanga City Chapter Administrator Victor Liozo Jr. said the ICRC has donated to them a van worth P1 million on Monday.
Liozo said the newly-donated vehicle will be of great help to the local chapter of the PRC in the delivery of humanitarian services.
He said the vehicle will be used by the staffs and volunteers who are currently serving the families displaced by the siege in September 2013.
Thousands of families are still housed in evacuation centers and transitory sites in the city. They were among those displaced when hundreds of Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) members loyal to MNLF founding-chair Nur Misuari laid siege in several villages in September 2013.
Liozo said the donation of the van has brought to a total number of vehicles of the PRC-Zamboanga City Chapter to 10 units.
He said the other nine units vehicle of his chapter consist of three ambulances, three pick-ups, one water tanker, one motorcycle and a van, which is under repair. (Bong Garcia)
