ZAMBOANGA International Airport (ZIA) area manager Danilo Abareta announced that they will implement the collection of parking fees at ZIA.

Abareta made this announcement Monday at City Hall’s regular press conference, citing they will start collecting parking fee starting August 1.

Abareta said the collection of parking fee is pursuant to Authority Order 140-14 and Memorandum Circular 12-14 issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap).

Abareta said the parking fee is P20 for cars and P10 for motorcycles.

He, however, said that no fees shall be collected for vehicles that will just drop off or pick-up passengers to include government-owned vehicles.

“This is in consonance with our drive to increase our revenue for the Zamboanga International Airport and for [other] airports in area nine,” he said.

Aside from ZIA, the area nine covers the following airports: Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte; Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur; Sanga-Sanga, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi; Jolo, Sulu; and the community airports in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay; and, Liloy and Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte.

Meanwhile, Abareta said there will be additional flights from and to ZIA in the coming months. (Bong Garcia)
