THE police have filed criminal charges against the alleged killer of a former Overseas Filipino Worker in an east coast village in Zamboanga City, the police said Thursday.

Inspector Dahlan Samuddin, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula Information Officer-in-Charge, identified the suspect as Joel Ledesma alias Joel Alfaro.

Samuddin said Ledesma was arrested by the operatives of Police Station 3 in a follow-up operation in the village of Curuan, east of the city.

Samuddin said Ledesma was positively identified by a witness as the one who allegedly shot and killed Junior Habing, 45, a former OFW and a resident of Sitio Daap in the village of Sangali.

Investigation showed that Habing was having a drinking spree together with his friends at a store when repeatedly shot by the suspect, Samuddin said.

The suspect has signed a 15-day waiver while awaiting resolution of his case, he added.
