THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), through its Zamboanga Coast Guard Station, has suspended the trips of all types of vessels in Zamboanga City as Typhoon Glenda entered the Philippines Area of Responsibility (PAR).

ZCGS commander Lieutenant Senior Grade Jomark Angue said they suspended the boat trips due to rough seas, although Zamboanga City and Zamboanga Peninsula region are not directly hit by the typhoon.

The suspension order affected the boat trips from the city to Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi and vice-versa and to the other parts of the country.

Angue said the suspension order is a proactive measure to prevent accident at sea while Typhoon Glenda remains within the PAR.

Angue said the voyage suspension order took effect 9 a.m. Tuesday and will remain in effect until further notice from his office as well as from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Service Administration.

However, Angue said they lifted the suspension order for vessels plying the Zamboanga-Basilan route an hour later following thorough assessment by his command.

He advised the boat captains and management of shipping lines to wait for the PCG advisory before sailing.
