‘Kinabayo Festival’ kicks off

THE annual “Kinabayo Festival” kicked off Friday in Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte province.

Dapitan City Tourism Officer Apple Marie Agolong said the festival kicked off at 1 p.m. Friday with a motorcade around the city.

It was be followed by the Search for Miss Silka 2014 at 7 p.m. at the Gloria de Dapitan.


Agolong said the festival activities started five days earlier in a bid to attract more tourists. This year’s activities started on July 11.

Agolong said they have lined up several activities including nightly cultural presentations as part of the 15-day festival.

The other activities include novena, talent nights, ball games, shooting competition, motorcycle race, ballet show, hip-hop competition, sky diving exhibition, horse race, drum and lyre competition, drum and bugle competition, and Miss Dapitan 2014.

The festival will culminate July 25, the feast day of Saint James the Greater, patron saint of Dapitan City. (Bong Garcia)
