A BUSINESSMAN was arrested in an anti-illegal drug operation in Isabela City, the capital of the nearby province of Basilan.

Isabela City police station chief Larubis identified the arrested businessman as Abraham Ahad, a resident of Carbon village, Malamawi Island.

Superintendent Albert Larubis said Ahad was nabbed by policemen led by Inspector Alvin Cabayacruz near his house in a buy-bust operation around 4:45 p.m. Thursday.

During the arrest, Ahad handed over a sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover police in exchange for P400.

Larubis said the buy-bust operation was carried out following reports that Ahad is involved in the drug trade aside from having his own legitimate business.

He said the arresting team confiscated from Ahad's possession a P400 “marked money,” 154 small-sized sachets of suspected shabu, P830 cash of different denomination, a mobile phone and a caliber .45 with ammunition.

Ahad was detained at the police headquarters in Isabela City. Charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, and RA 10591, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, are set to be filed against him.
