A SEAMAN was killed while a laborer survived although wounded in separate gun attacks in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Monday.

Killed was Victor Calo, 46, a seaman and resident of Sicpao village, Mahayag, Zamboanga Del Sur and wounded was Rolibert Jayme, 42, of Sta. Lucia, Pagadian City, the province’ capital.

Inspector Dahlan Samuddin, information officer-in-chargeof the Police Regional Office (PRO-9) in Zamboanga Peninsula, said Calo was killed around 2:50 p.m. Sunday in the village of Caridad, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur.

Investigation showed Calo was driving his motorcycle coming from the village of San Pablo, Dumingag, when repeatedly shot by motorcycle-riding gunmen that tailed the victim, Samuddin said.

Samuddin said the victim suffered two fatal gunshot wounds and died on the spot.

Meanwhile, Jayme was shot and wounded around 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the village of Sta. Lucia, Pagadian City, the capital of Zamboanga Del Sur.

Samuddin said Jayme was driving his motorcycle when shot by one of two gunmen aboard on another motorcycle that tailed the victim.

Both cases are continuously being investigated to established the motives and unmask the suspects. (Bong Garcia)
