Farm owner, son killed

A FARM owner and his son were killed in an ambush in a remote village in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Thursday.

The Zamboanga Sibugay Police Office reported that the incident took place around 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sitio Luok Lapak in the village of Bagong Buhay, Alicia municipality.

The police identified the victims as Daud Samson, 65, and his son, Panagas, 22, both residents of Sitio Penjaman in the village of Lapirawan, Alicia.


Investigation showed that the victims were passing on a mangrove area on the way to their farm at Sitio Luok Lapak in the village of Bagong Buhay when unidentified gunmen ambushed them.

The police said the victims died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds.

The police have recovered several empty shells of caliber 5.56 millimeter (mm) and 7.62-mm at the crime scene.

The caliber 5.56-mm and 7.62-mm are bullets for M-16 Armalite and M-14 rifles, respectively.
