A FORMER Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) was allegedly abducted inside a shopping mall in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, a top police official reported Wednesday.

Zamboanga del Sur police director Senior Superintendent Sofronio Ecaldre reported that the incident took place around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday inside a mall in Pagadian City, the province' capital.

Ecaldre identified the victim as Pebelyn Bertulfo, 38, of Gumahan village, Josefina, Zamboanga del Sur.

Ecaldre said the victim together with her sister-in-law and brother-in-law had been temporarily staying since last June 18 at a hotel in Pagadian City while waiting for her scheduled caesarian operation.

On Tuesday, Bertulfo and her brother-in-law, Arnulfo, went to the shopping mall purposely to buy the things she needs for her scheduled caesarian operation, according to Ecaldre.

He said Arnulfo went out of the shopping mall leaving Bertulfo alone and failed to find her upon his return inside the establishment.

He said Arnulfo rushed to the Pagadian City Police Station to seek for police assistance after he received a text from his sister-in-law asking for help.

"Blue van, tabang (help)," he reported quoting the victim's text message to his brother-in-law.

The Pagadian City police are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident as well as to locate the victim's whereabouts, Ecaldre said.
