CRIMINAL charges have been filed against two alleged New People's Army (NPA) captured recently by the government forces following a firefight in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Wednesday.
Inspector Dahlan Samuddin, information officer-in-charge of the Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula (PRO-9), identified rebels as Wilfredo Dalumos alias Ka Nick and Ka Tongtong and Edgar Cadilanza.
Samuddin said Dalumos was charged for violation of Republic Act 10591 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act with P100,000 recommended bail.
Samuddin said Cadilanza was charged for violation of R.A. 9516 for illegally possessing explosive with no bail recommended.
Combined police and military troops captured the duo last Friday afternoon following a brief firefight with combined police and military forces in the village of Datagan, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur.
Dalumos was caught in possession of an assault rifle with ammunition and a mobile phone while a fragmentation grenade was seized from Cadilanza's possession. (Bong Garcia)
