AT LEAST 15 local firms selling different kinds of products have joined the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) two-day Diskwento Ramadan in Zamboanga City.

The Diskwento Ramadan, that reeled off Thursday and ends Friday, is being held at Plaza Pershing in downtown Zamboanga City.

DTI-Zamboanga City Director Engineer Rolando Acuña said Thursday that the participating firms sell halal food and other products at discounted prices.

The DTI-led diskwento fair is timed before the start of the holy month of Ramadan to afford Muslim consumers and the general public the opportunity to buy halal food products and even other items at discounted prices.

DTI Regional Information Officer Lowell Vallecer said the diskwento fair is simultaneously being held in this city; Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte; and, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

A similar activity will be held Friday in Pagadian City, the capital of Zamboanga del Sur.

Except for Zamboanga City, the Diskwento Ramadan in Dipolog and Pagadian Cities and in Ipil are held in-store.

Another diskwento fair is set to be held in July 26 in time for the celebration of Eid’l Fitr. (Bong Garcia)
