REPRESENTATIVE Lilia Nuño (2nd district, Zamboanga City) said she will work out to restore back to the original status the two hospitals that were downgraded by the Department of Health (DOH).

The DOH has downgraded the Vitali and Quiniput hospitals to a mere lying-in and infirmary clinic, respectively, due to lack of medical equipment.

Nuño said she will request the DOH to allocate funds to purchase the needed medical equipment for the two hospitals to be restored back to its original status.

Among the equipment the two hospitals need are x-ray machines, surgery equipment and other medical gadgets.

Nuño said the two hospitals are very vital since the health facilities do not only serve the residents of this city’s far-flung villages but to include those from the nearby provinces like Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga Sibugay.

The Quiniput hospital, which is known as the Cristino Paragas Memorial Hospital, is located in the village of Quiniput, 44.70 kilometers east of this city while the Vitali hospital is located in the village of Vitali, 73 kilometers east of this city. (Bong Garcia)
