Gunmen kill hotel owner

A HOTEL owner was killed while a security guard was wounded in a gun attack in Zamboanga City, the police said Thursday.

Chief Inspector Felixberto Martinez, head of the local police’ Criminal Investigation and Detection Management, said the incident took place around 9:45 a.m. Thursday at Salwa Hotel, Governor Camins Avenue.

Martinez identified the victims as Hadja Salwa Kaman Julwadi, who was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician at the hospital.


Julwadi owns and manages the Salwa Hotel.

Wounded was Michael Tista, a security guard detailed at the hotel.

Investigation showed that Julwadi was at the lobby of the hotel when two gunmen arrived and shot her.

Martinez said that Tista was wounded when he traded shots with the gunmen who were arrested by the village officials and watchmen of Canelar.

He identified the suspects as Ernesto Bello and Silbert Villareal, both residents of Vitali village east of the city.
