A FARMER was killed by a fellow farmer in the midst of verbal altercation in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Tuesday.

The Zamboanga Sibugay Police Office reported that the incident took place around 5 p.m. Sunday in the village of JS Perfecto, R.T. Lim municipality.

The police identified the fatality as Ernesto Osco, 50, who died on the spot with a bullet wound in the head.

The suspect was identified as Renebert Bulagao, 35, who voluntarily surrendered to the village chief of JS Perfecto after the incident.

Investigation showed that the suspect was having a drinking spree at the residence of his uncle when the victim approached them, the police said.

A heated argument ensued between Osco and Bulagao that prompted the latter to pull out a handgun and shot the victim once, the police said.

The suspect was turned over to the custody of the police authorities while appropriate charges are being readied to be filed against him, the police said.
