Fisherman falls in drug buy-bust

THE police have arrested a fisherman in an anti-drug operation in the province Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Tuesday.

Arrested was Reynaldo Monares, 44, a resident of Purok 4 in the village of Cabgan, Tambulig, Zamboanga del Sur.

The police said that Monares was arrested around 2 p.m. Monday after he allegedly sold a sachet of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride also known as “shabu” to an undercover policeman.


The arresting team has confiscated from the suspect's possession five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet, containing white crystalline substance suspected to be Shabu, P600 "marked money," and other prohibited drugs paraphernalia, the police said.

The suspect is detained at Tambulig Police Station while an appropriate case for violation of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 is set to be filed against the suspect, the police said. (Bong Garcia)
