BSP calls public to re-circulate coins

A TOP official of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) strongly appealed to the public to the BSP re-circulate the coins.

BSP-Zamboanga City Acting Branch Head Vicente Celestial’s appeal came following observations that people save the coins on piggy banks that may cause shortage of loose change.

Celestial said the government will be spending more once there will be shortage of coins in the country.


Celestial said that coins of small denominations like five and 10 centavos must also be used and not thrown away or kept in jars at home.

Among the coins the BSP have circulated to the public are of P10, P5, and P1 denominations aside from five and 10 centavos.

Celestial these coins are useful in paying jeepney fare, parking fee, and purchasing goods.
