Gunmen kill 1, injure fireman

A SEXAGENARIAN was killed while a fireman was wounded in separate gun attacks in Zamboanga City, the police reported Friday.

Police identified the fatality as Jailani Sabtarani, 62, a native of Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, and wounded was Fire Officer 1 (FO1) Randee Banguih.

According to the Police Station 7 (PS7), Sabtarani was shot and killed around 4:50 p.m. Thursday near a gasoline station in the village of San Roque.


Investigation showed the victim was standing at the sidewalk when shot by one of two men riding tandem in a motorcycle.

Police Station 11 (PS11) reported that Banguih was shot and wounded by his first cousin Imran Banguih, 19, around 3 p.m. Thursday at Nangka Drive in the village of Baliwasan.

Investigation showed that Banguih went to the residence of his first cousin, Amyra Mohammad, to get money but was met by the suspect instead.

Further investigation showed that the suspect shot the victim after a heated argument between them.

The victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment while the suspect fled. (Bong Garcia)
