A SCHOOL teacher was shot and killed by a lone gunman who took his motorcycle in Isabela City, the capital of the nearby province of Basilan, the police said Thursday.

Isabela City police commander Superintendent Albert Larubis identified the victim as Jayveen Ilagan, a teacher of Claret College of Isabela.

Larubis said that Ilagan was shot and killed in front of his residence around 7 a.m. Thursday at Mega M subdivision in the village of Sunrise, Isabela City.

Investigation showed that Ilagan was washing his motorcycle when the suspect appeared and shot the victim, Larubis said.

The victim was hit in the head and expired while undergoing medical treatment, he said.

The suspect took the victim’s motorcycle and fled from the crime scene, he said.
