A THREE-year-old girl died while some 50 houses made of light materials were razed in a fire incident in an east coast village of Zamboanga City, an official said Thursday.
Zamboanga City Central Fire Station commander Superintendent Dominador Zabala Jr. said the fire broke out around 3 p.m. Wednesday in the village of Kasanyangan, east of the city.
Zabala said the fire started at the residence of a certain Amilbangsa and rapidly spread to nearby houses that are made of light materials.
Zabala said they received information that the fire started after the power resumed.
The three-year-old girl identified as a certain Bambi died during the fire after she was trapped inside their house, Zabala said.
The girl’s mother, who also suffered burns, tried to save her but efforts proved futile due to the raging flames.
Firefighters from the Bureau of Fire Protection put off the fire around 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Initial worth of property damage was placed at half-a-million pesos, Zabala said.
