A MEAT shop worker was killed while another escaped unscathed in a gun attack by motorcycle-riding gunmen in an east coast village in the Zamboanga City, the police said Saturday.

The Police Station 6 (PS6) said the incident took place around 9 p.m. Friday at the Jumbo Bridge along Natividad Street in the village of Tetuan, east of the city.

The police identified the victim as Madelyn Almendras, 31, a resident of Don Toribio Street in the village of Tetuan.

The police said that Almendras was rushed to the hospital, but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Investigation showed that Almendras was riding tandem on a motorcycle driven by her cousin, Rodel, on the way home coming from her work place in the village of Putik when shot by one of two men riding tandem on another motorcycle that tailed them, the police said.

Rodel escaped unscathed, the police said.

Investigation continues to establish the motive of the incident as well as identify the suspects, the police said.
