DEPARTMENT of Tourism (DOT)-Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Director Mary June Bugante is encouraging the local folks and visitors to visit the Greater Sta. Cruz Island while enjoying the summer vacation.

Bugante said the Greater Sta. Cruz Island is an ideal place not only for picnic and family gatherings but also for bird watching, scuba diving and snorkeling.

Bugante said that the Sta. Cruz Island is now accessible since there are for rent small boats anchored at the Paseo del Mar waiting for passengers in going to the island.

The Greater Sta. Cruz Island, which boasts of its pink sand beach, is a 15-minute ride away from Zamboanga City.

Bugante advised those who will visit the Greater Sta. Cruz Island not to throw their garbage anywhere in the island. (Bong Garcia)
