A COUPLE was killed while their three children were unscathed in a gun attack in the hinterlands of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Wednesday.

William Canta-on, 48, and his wife, Cilliom, 50, both died on the spot after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.

The identities of the slain couple’s children were withheld by the police.

Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) spokesman Senior Inspector Joseph Ortega said the incident took place around 8 p.m. Sunday in the village of Motosawa, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur.

Ortega said the victims were asleep when unidentified gunmen arrived and opened fire at their home.

He said responding policemen have recovered 20 empty shells of .45 caliber pistols at the crime scene.

Investigation continues in a bid to establish the motive as well as unmask the suspects, he said.
