13 hurt in vehicular accident

THIRTEEN people, including a truck driver, were wounded in a vehicular accident in the hinterlands of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Wednesday.

The Zamboanga del Norte Police Office reported that the incident took place around 5 a.m. Tuesday at Sitio Manganese in the village of Canupong, Gutalac municipality.

The victims were identified as: Marlon Oyog, 40, the truck driver; Rene Malinao, 30; Leonardo Sorem, 15; Andrew Junsay, 17; Ernesto Beahe, 48; Bobby Lantaca, 50; Junior Mudja, 44; Jayford Mudja, 17; Soleta Bangue, 51; Roberto Bangue, 64; Marry Ann Bangue, 20; Ringo Bangue, 16; and, Jolibert Lapu-ay, 34.


Investigation showed that the victims were aboard a truck traveling from Dipolog City, the capital of Zamboanga del Norte, bound for Baliguian town when the driver lost control of the steering wheel after the vehicle developed mechanical trouble.

The truck fell into a ditch at the side of the road that resulted to the injury of the victims, who were among the 20 persons aboard the vehicle, the police said.

The victims were taken to the Liloy Integrated Hospital and Labason Rural Health Offi
