ONE person died while two others were wounded in an altercation that stemmed from a land conflict between neighbors in a remote village of Zamboanga del Norte, the police said Tuesday.

The Zamboanga del Norte police reported that the incident took place around 8 p.m. Sunday in the village of Pisa Puti, Sirawai municipality.

Killed was Gali Arasid, 65, and wounded were Bandahala Talaji and Merjam Jadji.

Investigation showed that prior to the incident, Arasid shot and wounded Talaji after he saw the latter destroy the fence of his farm.

Talaji’s brother, Lahi, upon seeing the incident, shot and killed Arasid, the police said.

Minutes later, Jadji arrived at the crime scene to verify the incident but was hacked and wounded by Lahi, the police said.

Talaji and Jadji were taken to the Sirawai Rural Health Center and later transferred to a hospital in Zamboanga City, the police said.

Lahi fled and remains at large.
