TWO militiamen were injured in a gun attack in the hinterlands of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Saturday.

The Zamboanga del Norte Police Office reported that the incident took place around 7:30 p.m. Friday in the village of Pange, Siayan town.

The police identified the injured militiamen as Marcial Seguyo, 50, and Jhunny Fabillar, both assigned at the 20th Special Force Civilian Active Auxiliary (CAA) Detachment in the village of Pange.

Investigation showed the two militiamen were returning back to their detachment carrying a newly-charged battery when fired upon by a group of unidentified gunmen, the police said.

A brief firefight ensued when the gunmen also attacked the detachment as the militiamen and soldiers returned fire.

The attackers fled towards the nearby village of Labangon, Dumingag, Zamboanga Del Sur.

The two injured militiamen were taken to the hospital for treatment, the police said.
