1 dies in bicycle-motorcycle collision

A 90-YEARD-OLD man was killed in a bicycle and motorcycle collision in an east coast village of Zamboanga City, the police reported Thursday.

The Police Station 1 (PS1) said the incident took place around 7:15 a.m. in the village of Tictapul, 85.85 kilometers east of this city.

The police identified the fatality as Apolinar Apolinario, 90, resident of Tictapul.


Investigation showed that Apolinario was driving a bicycle when he was bumped by a speeding motorcycle driven by Benjie Rallos, 21, of R.T. Lim town, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Apolinario sustained head injury and was rushed to the Vitali Lying-In Clinic and later to a hospital but declared dead on arrival by the attending physician, the police said.

Rallos was detained at the headquarters of the Police Station 1 in the village of Vitali while appropriate charges are set to be filed against him, the police said.
