THE police have arrested one of the most wanted persons in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, an official said Wednesday.

Arrested was Jonard Torres, who is listed as the Number 1 most wanted person in the municipality of Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur, said Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula (PRO-9) spokesman Senior Inspector Joseph Ortega.

Ortega said Torres was arrested around 3 p.m. Tuesday at his residence in the village of Inasagan, Aurora municipality.

Ortega said Torres has a standing warrant of arrest for robbery with double homicide issued by the Court in Aurora town.

He said the arrest of Torres came after the latter’s hiding and eluding arrest for several months.

He said Torres was previously charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, but was released later considering that he was still a minor then.

He said Torres is in the custody of the police in Aurora while waiting for the commitment order from the Court for his eventual transfer to a detention facility in Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga del Sur.
