TWO farmers were wounded while four others escaped unscathed in a grenade attack in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police said Friday.

The Zamboanga Sibugay Police Office (ZSPO) said the incident took place around 3:45 p.m. Thursday at Sitio Limamon in the village of San Isidro, Tungawan municipality.

The police identified the victims as Arjay Villacienco, 18, and Mark Anthony Carriage, 19 -- both residents of San Isidro, Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Investigation showed the victims, together with four other farmers, were on their way home when an unidentified man tossed a grenade towards them, the police said.

The victims’ companions, whose identities were not immediately available, escaped unscathed as they managed to jump for safety, the police said.

Villacienco and Carriage sustained multiple injuries as they failed to seek for cover. The two were admitted at a hospital for treatment.

An investigation is underway to establish the identity of the suspect, the police said.
