REVENUE District Officer Cresencio Agad has advised local taxpayers to pay their income tax returns early to avoid the rush.
Agad, whose office has jurisdiction over Zamboanga City, issued the advice as the deadline for the filing of the income tax returns is fast approaching.
The last day of filling of the annual income tax returns to the BIR is on April 15.
Agad said the taxpayers should not wait for the last day of filling to avoid the rush and inconveniences.
Effective Tuesday, April 1, until April 15, all Authorized Agent Banks of BIR will be open until 5 p.m. Monday to Friday to accommodate tax payments, Agad said.
He said the banks will be opened two Saturdays (April 5 and April 12) before the April 15 deadline.
He said that it is in line with the agreement signed by BIR Commissioner Kim Henares with the bank association for the extension of banking hours and opening of additional counters to accommodate the taxpayers.
The AABs in this city are the following: Development Bank of the Philippines, Port Area; Land Bank of the Philippines, Pettit Barracks and Veterans Avenue branches; Philippine National Bank, Veterans Avenue and Climaco Avenue branches; Metro Bank & Trust Company, Gov. Lim Avenue and P. Brillantes branches; China Banking Corporation, Gov. Lim Avenue; and, United Coconut Planters Bank, Rizal Street.
