AN ESTIMATED P500,000 worth of properties went up in smoke when a fire hit a remote village razing five houses in Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported.

The Zamboanga Sibugay Police Office reported that the incident took place around 7:45 p.m. Thursday at Purok Mabini in the village of Guinoman, Diplahan municipality.

The houses that were razed were owned by Erlinda Ayonar, Alfredo Alvatera, Emmanuel Revelo, Archemedes Revelo, and Felixberto Ayunar.

Investigation showed that the fire started from the residence of Ayunar when a kerosene lamp accidentally fell on the floor that ignited the fire and immediately scattered to the neighboring houses, the police said.

The fire was placed under control after 30 minutes by the fire fighters, the police said.

There was no reported casualty or injury during the incident, the police added. (Bong Garcia)
