A TOP official of the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has announced that 2GO has resumed its service connecting again this city with the key cities in the country by sea travel.
Port Manager Engineer Liberto Dela Rosa said the M/V St. Francis Xavier of 2GO shipping firm has docked on Monday at the local port ferrying 700 passengers coming from Manila via the cities of Cebu and Dumaguete.
Dela Rosa said that M/V St. Francis Xavier has sailed back Tuesday to Manila via Cebu and Dumaguete Cities coming from this city.
Dela Rosa said the resumption Monday of the trip of M/V Francis Xavier was the first after six months of absence.
The shipping company stopped sailing to this city last year after its vessel sunk, according to Dela Rosa.
He described M/V St. Francis Xavier as a big vessel that could accommodate 1,900 passengers and is very convenient for travel.
Meanwhile, he said the resumption of the trip of 2GO is a big help to the Zamboangueños and the residents of nearby provinces as far as traveling by sea to the other parts of the country.
He said the return of the shipping firm is also a big help to the PPA in terms of revenues. – Bong Garcia
