TWO people, including a child, were wounded in a highway robbery in an east coast village of Zamboanga City, the police said Saturday.

Zamboanga Peninsula police information officer Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca said the incident took place around 4:30 p.m. Friday at Sitio Tagpangi in the village of Vitali, 73 kilometers (km) east of the city.

Huesca identified the victims as Jeffrey Tubat, 28, a habal-habal driver; and Raymond Pedrosa, eight.

Investigation showed the victims were on their way home to Sitio Sta. Fe in the village of Vitali after they sold copra when shot by unidentified gunmen, Huesca said.

He said the suspects took from Pedrosa P4,000, the proceeds of the copra he sold and sped to the hinterlands.

He said the motive of the incident was robbery hold-up.

Investigation continues to unmask the identities of the suspects, he added.
