THE City Government has increased its financial assistance to the Zamboanga City Police Officer (ZCPO) by P78.34 million from P113.5 million in 2013 to P191.84 million this year.
Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar said the increase of financial assistance is in consonance with the priority of her administration on the security, especially now that this city is slowly recovering and rebuilding back better from last September’s seige.
Salazar, however, admitted that this city is beset with peace and order problems despite the City Government’s assistance to the police force.
She has assured that the City Government and the ZCPO are doing everything to address the peace and order concerns.
She also encouraged the village officials to help maintain peace and order in their respective areas.
Last week, she distributed hand-held radios to 14 villages at five units each for faster communication in times of emergency.
The distribution of radios last week has completed the 37 villages under the first district with communication facilities and eight island villages of the second district.
The rest of the villages will receive their radios in due time, said Salazar.
