8 nabbed for illegal fishing

COMBINED police, bantay dagat, and fisheries personnel have arrested eight fishermen for illegal fishing off Zamboanga Sibugay province, the police reported.

The arrested fishermen were identified as follows: Junel Ordaniza, 25; Joyjoy Dato, 23; Alex Delicana, 49; Aldrin Rellon, 19; Jeam Ordaniza, 32; Jeric Rellon, 19; Alex Sabejon, 18; and, Angelito Pamada.

They are all residents of Taytay Manubo village in the municipality of Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay, the police said.


They were arrested around 4 p.m. Sunday in the municipal waters of Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay, the police added.

Investigation showed that the combined team of policemen, bantay dagat and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources were conducting seaborne patrol when they spotted the fishing engaged in illegal fishing, the police said. (Bong Garcia)
