A FISHERMAN was shot by a fellow fisherman in a remote village in Zamboanga del Norte province, said the police on Sunday.

Zamboanga Peninsula police information officer Ariel Huesca said the incident took place around 7:30 p.m. Friday at Sitio Liasan in Barangay Canuto Enerio, Gutalac town.

The victim was identified as Dino Mangga, 32, who was admitted at the Labason Medical Center for treatment.

Huesca said the victim was allegedly shot by Leo Sanggual, 31, also a fisherman, who was arrested in a follow-up operation.

Investigation disclosed that Mangga was about to get a drinking glass at his dirty kitchen when shot by the suspect who positioned himself at a coconut tree located four meters away.

The suspect fled but was arrested in a follow-up operation more than two hours after the incident. Recovered from his possession was a 12 guage shotgun.
