ARMED men have seized an engineering student in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Friday.

Zamboanga Peninsula police information officer Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca said the incident took place around 9:30 p.m. Thursday along Cabrera Street, Pagadian City, the capital of Zamboanga del Sur.

Huesca identified the victims as Stephen Tan, 19, an engineering student of the Southern Mindanao College (SMC) in Pagadian City.

Investigation showed the victim was with his classmates when the gunmen seized him while they were in front of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) office, Huesca said.

He said the suspects forced the victim to board a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) with registered plate number KJS-723 and which fled toward east from the PhilHealth building.

He said the policemen are tracking down the whereabouts of the victim, whose family owns a resort in Barangay Mahayahay, Pagadian City.
