TWO government employees were seized by Abu Sayyaf bandits but were freed more than three hours later in the island province of Sulu, a police official reported.
Sulu provincial police director Abraham Orbito said the victims were seized around 3 p.m. Saturday at Sitio Baunoh in the village of Liang, Patikul town.
Senior Superintendent Orbito said the victims Jimal Abdilla, 30, and Kilder Sakandal, 45, were freed around 6:25 p.m. Saturday in the area where they were earlier seized.
Abdilla is a payloader operator of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) while Sakandal is his assistant.
The two DPWH personnel were aboard a truck on the way to the town of Jolo, the capital of Sulu, coming from the village of Taong, Patikul when they were flagged down and seized at Sitio Baunoh in the village of Liang, the police said.
Investigation showed the victims were blindfolded and forced to walk around the area for almost three hours before they were freed.
The victims, who were unharmed, have reunited with their families, the police added.
