THE Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) has forwarded a murder charge before the City Prosecutor’s Office against three people, including the alleged mastermind, tagged as responsible in the killing last week of an employee in a petroleum company in the city.
Charged for murder on Monday were Guillermo Sasabo, the alleged triggerman, Joebert Delos Reyes, the motorcycle driver, and Ruben Clemente, an employee of the Petron depot and the alleged mastermind, a top police official said.
Police Station 11 chief Diomarie Albarico said the suspects were arrested Saturday in a follow-up operation after a witness tagged them as those responsible in the killing of Joey Malaki.
Malaki, a warehouse clerk of Petron depot in the village of Lower Calarian, was shot to death last February 17 at Suterville in the same village.
Malaki, 30, was driving his bike on the way for work when he was shot by one of two men riding tandem in a motorcycle.
The suspects were positively identified by a witness identified as Robert Clavecilla, who is also an employee at the Petron depot.
Albarico said that Clavecilla, bothered by his conscience, has confided to them the circumstances he knows about the incident when the victim’s co-employees were interviewed by the police.
Albarico said Clavecilla revealed that he was ordered by Clemente last month to look for gun-for-hires and the contracted price is P50,000.
Clemente allegedly gave Clavecilla an envelope containing P10,000 down payment, a caliber .45 pistol and the victim’s picture which he gave to the two alleged gun-for-hires, Albarico said.
He said the suspects are presently detained at the headquarters of the Police Station 11. (Bong Garcia)
